Blizzard

That’s amazing. They haven’t let people leave early since the winter blizzard. Of course, you had to make up the time if you left for the weather. Did people get credit for the time. Or is the union perceived as more dangerous than the blizzard?

I don’t think they wanted us to be spared of harassment, as a constitutionally protected rally isn’t harassment. If the union reads the U.S. Constitution on the sidewalk, they’d call that harassment too.

Mr. Winterland’s latest letter to my home was completely unprofessional and insulting. He attacks Ms. Schwegmann, offering no facts, just hearsay. He admonishes employees to ‘send C.S. back to St. Louis’ and tells of the “legal” ramifications of signing a union card.
Everyone at The Pantagraph has been hired based on skills, knowledge and competence; please B.W., give me and my peers credit for being able to make sound decisions based on fact, not on the fear you continue to create.
If an employee is contacted by Ms. Schwegmann they have the same options they have no matter who is contacting them: listen, hang-up or walk away. Winterland knows Schwegmann cannot contact people at work, and so does she. Contacting employees via mail, phone or a visit is perfectly legal.

In my estimation, Winterland is scared. Scared that if employees do some research and become educated and informed about what the union offers, he will find himself having to *gasp* work with those of us who aren’t management.
Winterland is showing his hand by using scare tactics on Pantagraph employees. I won’t be frightened into making a decision Mr. Winterland. I’ll continue to make informed decisions based on real information; and the fact of the matter is you are pretending to be a nice, caring person with my best interests at heart. How transparent. You are a mere puppet to the publisher and Lee.

I always do my best with respect to myself, my family, my friends and my job. However, Lee decides how much my best is worth. I know their best is worth more to Lee than my best. But why? As Lee CEO Mary Junck has lost 50% of my 401-K invested in Lee stock, but she still is considered to be doing her best. She got a bonus, and after all she is still the CEO. I wish I had some control over her performance evaluation but I’m not sure I have enough worth/control as a stockholder any more. I told my supervisor how concerned I am that my 401-K went down-He said, Oh really! I don’t worry about things I can’t control. Maybe that’s it. The whole thing really is about control. Maybe someday I’ll have a little control and say how much people should pay for me. SWEET!

Dang, Gomer, sorry to hear this. Tragic. It’s the reason I don’t put big lumps of stock into my own employer — ever. If the company tanks, you’ve lost your investment and your employment. Guthoff-Mehall offers some outstanding investment advice if your looking. Just a sit-down for an hour might be the best $150 (guessing the rate) you spend all year.
